Q: Why the ‚K‘ in arkitettoria and Kollection?
A: The ‚K‘ is our visual and theoretical signature. It is a direct homage to the Radical Design movement of the 1960s, specifically to Ettore Sottsass and his iconic Katalogo for Poltronova. By replacing the traditional „Ch“ or „C“, we embrace a language that is bold, unconventional, and deeply rooted in the history of Italian avant-garde architecture. For us, the „K“ represents a break from the ordinary: a commitment to designing spaces and objects that are not just functional, but ritualistic.
Tanja and Federico have been working together since their studies, combining their skills to great effect. The Italian architects, based in Germany, founded arkitettoria in 2018 with the aim of exploring the needs of contemporary society. They draw on the rich tradition of Italian artisanship while keeping a close eye on future trends, in order to innovate and create objects with a unique personality.
